How I Save Money $ on Laundry Detergent with this Hack

Who doesn't love to save money? I love it even more when I can save money and still purchase natural good quality products. There are numerous products that I purchase from Young Living that I get double and sometimes triple use out of one product.

Laundry detergent was a huge expensive for my family of 5. With a. husband who works outside and needs a very tough cleaner and 3 little kids who love the outdoors we were going through two 85 count Tide Pods per month. You read that right Tide Pods (YIKES)! That's a whole other conversion for another blog post, you live and you LEARN. I was spending on average $54 dollars a month on laundry detergent, after switching to Thieves Laundry Detergent now I spend on average $50 a YEAR! How satisfying is that?! Let me break it down:

  • Thieves Laundry Soap: $33.25*

  • Thieves Household Cleaner: $25.50*

  • Lemon Essential Oil: $13.00*

Total is $71.75. Now I know what you're thinking how do you spend on average $50 a year when total investment is $71.75. Let me tell you! I split the Thieves Laundry soap in half, you can triple it if your family isn't hard on their clothes like mine, making the laundry soap $16.62 for one bottle of soap. You only use a cup of the thieves household cleaner for each bottle so if you strictly use the cleaner for your laundry soap it will last you for 6 bottles of laundry soap which makes is $4.25. There are approximately 250 drops in a 15 ML bottle of essential oil and I usually use 30 in a bottle of laundry soap which means I can use a bottle of lemon essential oil for 8 bottles of soap making it $1.62.

That was a lot of math so let's add this up. For one bottle of laundry soap after adding all the ingredients it comes to: $22.49 and that one bottle will last me on average 5-6 months for a family of 5. That means I spend on average $44.98 per year on laundry soap! Not to mention when you have a membership with Young Living your also getting rewards each month that you can use to purchase these products for free.

What a great way to not only save money but using products that are not full of toxic ingredients. On to the fun part: making it!
